It’s funny what kids pick up from you – that you have a chance to really MOLD what they grow up to be. Last week I was talking to two of my coworkers (HAAY Ashley and Caroline) and I was reminded of another thing Banana picked up from me the last holiday season. We were at Pier 1 imports in Hadley, and they had a lovely display of tree ornaments, and she wanted one of them. I don’t know how much all y’all pay for tree ornaments, but I tend to be somewhat cheap when it comes to that stuff. Really, if it doesn’t come in the bargain bins at Target, it probably wasn’t on my tree. It was a particularly long day of shopping for gifts for the family, so I may have been slightly less patient than the glowing ray of sunshine I normally am, so when Banana asked for the 15th time if she could get the $15 pink sequin snowman, I MAY have said “Anna we’re not getting that GD ornament”. Here’s what the rest of the holiday season looked like for the two of us:
Pier One: Momma, can we get a different GD ornament?
At home: Momma, can we put up the GD ornaments?
At my parents: Momma, Nana and Papa’s GD ornaments look pretty.
Back at home: Momma, can we leave up the GD ormanents all the time?
Back at my parents: Momma, can we take some of Nana and Papa’s GD ornaments for our tree?
Back at home: Momma, our tree would look much prettier with that GD snowman ornament.
Back at Pier One, January: MOMMA – THEY STILL HAVE THE GD ORNAMENTS!!!!
